A Message from the State Superintendent of Schools

Welcome to the 2017 Maryland Report Card website. We are pleased to share the most current information available to help our stakeholders measure student achievement in all 24 local school systems from year to year.

On December 10, 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), was reauthorized and updated the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Overall, the new law provides states more authority on standards, assessments, accountability, supports, and interventions. Maryland is preparing a Consolidated State Plan for the implementation of this law which, upon approval, will be implemented in the 2017-18 school year. During the transition to ESSA, Maryland will continue to publish information about enrollment, attendance, graduation rate, assessment results and other supporting data. We will also continue to update 2017 data as it becomes available throughout the year.
